Wildomar

Bookkeeping for Wildomar businesses

Wildomar borders Murrieta, Lake Elsinore and unincorporated Riverside County, and Interstate 15 runs through the middle of it (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildomar,_California" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wikipedia, Wildomar</a>). The city became official on July 1, 2008, after residents of Wildomar and Sedco Hills voted for incorporation in February of that year, making it the 25th city in Riverside County.

The name is a blend of its founders’ names: "Wil" for William Collier, "do" for Donald Graham and "mar" for Margaret Collier Graham. The land was part of Rancho La Laguna, which Franklin Heald, William Collier and Donald Graham bought in 1883, and the townsite was mapped in 1886. Rail service helped early growth until it was abandoned in 1935, and development picked up again after the freeway was completed in the early 1980s.

A hospital, schools and the businesses that surround them

As of June 2024, the biggest employers listed for Wildomar were Lake Elsinore Unified School District, Inland Valley Medical Center, a general acute care hospital with a Level II trauma center, and Southern California Edison (Wikipedia, Wildomar). Around an anchor like a hospital, you tend to find specialists, therapy and imaging offices, pharmacies and the contractors who build and repair them. Practice owners can read more on our medical and dental bookkeeping page.

Because Wildomar is a young city, many of its shops, tradespeople and professional firms are owner-run and fairly small. A single person often handles sales, payroll and paperwork. That is where monthly bookkeeping makes the biggest difference.

Wildomar’s business registration

Unlike most nearby cities, Wildomar calls its requirement a Business Registration. The city says every person conducting business within city limits, or doing business with the city, needs a current and valid registration, and that a new registration typically takes five to ten business days to process. Some businesses may also owe an annual stormwater inspection fee (City of Wildomar, Business Registration). We record registration and inspection fees as separate costs. If you are not sure which category your business falls into, ask the city directly.

Local landmarks and community

The Wildomar Cemetery is maintained by the Wildomar Cemetery District, which the city took over managing in 2011, and the Iodine Springs Reserve is managed by the Riverside County Regional Park and Open Space District (Wikipedia, Wildomar). Community places like these give a small city its character, and local owners often sponsor teams, donate to events and buy local. We track those sponsorships and donations in their own accounts so you can see what community involvement costs the business.
